The new SearchAlert re-settable combination lock was designed with a security feature which allows TSA airport security agents, using a secured access device, to open the SearchAlert lock without destroying the lock. TSA agents are trained to recognize the Travel Sentry Certified Logo and should not break the luggage lock.

Avoid costly damage to your luggage that could be caused by using other luggage locks.

The new SearchAlert security Window changes from Green to Red when the TSA secured access device is used to open the lock, or if an unauthorized person has opened the lock. You can set the SearchAlert window back to green with your personal combination.

You will know when your SearchAlert TSA locks have been opened, and whether your luggage has been searched by a TSA agent, or violated by an unknown person.

The Security Window shows Red under the following conditions:

Luggage checked at an Airport is sent through an electronic screening. If a TSA agent determines the luggage needs to be hand searched, the SearchAlert lock will be opened by the TSA agent. When the TSA secured access device is used, the SearchAlert window changes color from Green to Red. The SearchAlert window should also change color if the luggage lock is tampered.

 If a TSA Agent hand searches a piece of luggage, the agent should leave a TSA Notification of Baggage Inspection in the bag. If the SearchAlert lock Security Window shows red, and no official Notification of Baggage Inspection is found, the traveler should take the luggage to the airlines baggage services office to determine if  items are missing items have been added to the luggage.

The SearchAlert case is constructed in a rugged metal alloy. Other "bargain tsa locks" have plastic cases and no patented indicator.

 In the unlikely event the TSA breaks your SearchAlert luggage lock, keep the broken lock and baggage inspection notice then contact us to arrange a replacement. Your order will include user instructions.

I purchased 2 locks--one for my suitcase and one for my husband's. The directions were easy to follow and had no problems getting them to work. Unfortunately, during one leg of our trip, my husband's lock (shank) got bent. At some point on our return, the lock came completely off, although I'm sure it had some help with the way bags are thrown around. On my bag, I was able to tuck the lock inside a zipper so it did not flop around. I think it's length predisposes it to being knocked around and catching on things if you cannot secure it somehow. Otherwise, it worked as advertised.

Great product that held up well on our first overseas trip since receiving. I like the 4 dial, as it makes it more time consuming to "run count" trough the combination. I also like the red/green indicator, as we can tell immediately upon retrieval at the baggage carousel whether our bags were opened for inspection or not.

Now I won't even think about traveling without these to secure my luggage. I love the simplicity - if your luggage has been opened, you can see it before opening your bag. In which case, check the contents for anything missing right there (at the airport) as it's much easier to file any claims or check contents there than thousands of miles later. I love the keyless design. I picked the 4-number model as it would take much longer for anyone who'd be tempted to go thru the number combinations to find the correct one. I also got one of these for my husband, and he loves it too. I think anyone who ever has to fly with their luggage would appreciate one or two of these. Classic design, solidly built, easy to use. So far haven't found anything I didn't like in the product.
