SearchAlert Extended Hasp TSA Case Lock Description

The NEW SearchAlert 6435 TSA Case Lock is specifically designed for air travel with firearm cases or equipment cases requiring a thick 1/4" shackle. The SearchAlert case lock will not fit most standard luggage zippers and lock holes which require a smaller shackle. The only TSA locks with a thick 1/4" shackle.

The key feature of the new 6435 case lock design is the extended shackle for cases where clearance is not sufficient on a standard TSA case lock.

The SearchAlert re-settable combination case lock was designed with a security feature which allows TSA airport security agents, using a secured access device, to open the SearchAlert lock without destroying the lock. TSA agents are trained to recognize the Travel Sentry Certified Logo and should not break the luggage lock.

The SearchAlert case lock security Window changes from Green to Red when the TSA secured access device is used to open the lock, or if an unauthorized person has opened the lock. You can set the SearchAlert window back to green with your personal combination.

After flight from Chicago to Beijing only the hasp remained, the combo portion was gone. Hangs out too far from the case.

I use two of these on my Pelican 1560 Case to transport government equipment. The TSA agents don't have a problem with the locks and I haven't had any issues with them coming unlocked or breaking (thus far). I would recommend them. I think they're a good deal for the price as many locks I've purchased in the past for around the same price have broken after one or two uses. We'll see how well these hold up over the long-haul.

I bought two of these locks to use on a Pelican 1510 case that I use as a carry-on for my expensive, delicate camera gear. Why lock a carry-on, you ask? I've had the experience, especially with smaller aircraft, of arriving at the cabin door and being told that I had to check the case because there was no room. Even though checking a bag at the door is much nore secure than checking it in the normal way, there is an opportunity for someone to open the case and steal something. With the cost of professional gear, I can't afford to take that chance. I like the heavy-dury shackle on the lock. It makes it much more difficult to cut than some of the lighter shackles I've seen on other locks.

Have used other TSA locks before and Tamperseals are clearly superior in durability, especially around where the shackle goes into the body of the lock. The extended hasp is great for strange angles. I use it on a larger box and the larger hast allows the lock to lie flat against the case without having it stick out. This reduces the abuse the lock must withstand, and also makes it easier to pack the case in tightly among other items.

Need to lock gun case that was too large for standard TSA lock to fix. This worked perfect and resetting the combination was easy and worked well. I'll more than likely get a couple more for back up when TSA looses my locks!!!

I haven't used the lock yet, I purchased it to "protect" my camera equipment in its pelican case when I take my trips. Does not appear to be as sturdy as a master lock, but is TSA compliant and should act as a deterrent against theft (since nothing is 100% theft proof). But over all, with the low cost, it is a small price to pay for a little piece of mind.

I use the product on plastic trunks while traveling. I like the heavy gauge of the shank. However, the lock's opening is too small to easly attach it to my trunk. It takes a lot of pressure and cajoling! I have also had several come apart after one or two airline trips. They separate at the seams and are rendered useless. Definitely NOT heavy duty from an airline standpoint, but really good for use around the house or office. For the price, I would expect a more durable product.

All locks are basically made for honest people and any TSA lock can be opened. Sturdiness and sturdy appearance deter tampering--can't be cut quickly. I use two locks with different combinations on airline firearms cases--makes it look like something to be left alone because its too much trouble. I like the indicator that shows whether lock has been opened by TSA.

On a recent trip, after TSA inspected my guncase w/4 of these locks and between where I was leaving, and my final destination someone jammed someting into the TSA key slot indicated by all the scratch marks the body of the lock the case split a little but never opened. I noticed this after I got home and had to cut the shank to get it off. I guess they gave up, with the first lock. This the reason I purchased a replacement plus and extra.
