SearchAlert TSA Luggage Lock Black Description

Travel with peace of mind knowing your belongings are protected by a TSA approved lock. This easy-to-use mechanical combination TSA lock lets you know your luggage was opened at the airport. These locks are accepted and recognized by the TSA in the US and HMCE in the UK. Feel safe knowing that your luggage is locked worldwide. The SearchAlert re-settable combination lock Model 7400 was designed with a security feature which allows TSA security agents, using a secured access device to open the SearchAlert lock without destroying the lock. TSA agents are trained to recognize the Travel Sentry Certified Logo and should not break the luggage lock.

The SearchAlert security window changes from Green to Red when the device has been opened, whether by an authorized or unauthorized person. You can easily set the window back to Green using your own personal combination.

The Security Window shows Red under the following conditions:

Luggage checked at an Airport is sent through an electronic screening. If a TSA agent determines the luggage needs to be hand searched, the SearchAlert lock will be opened by the TSA agent. When the TSA secured access device is used, the SearchAlert window changes color from Green to Red. The SearchAlert window should also change color if the luggage lock has been tampered with.

If a TSA agent hand searches a piece of luggage, the agent should leave a TSA Notification of Baggage Inspection in the bag. If the SearchAlert lock security window shows Red, and no official Notification of Baggage Inspection is found, the traveler should take the luggage to the airlines baggage services office to determine if items are missing.

It is a good product and reliable for protecting your luggage while traveling by air because of TSA requirement. I have purchased the product twice and on each occasion I had to ship backe one of the locks for adjustment of the code It is necssary to check each lock for perfomance

We purchased four of these locks. For the most part these locks did what they were supposed to do. We were a little disappointed that out of the four locks two were bent pretty badly when our luggage was returned to us through baggage claim. They remained locked but were very difficult to remove. My husband was able to straighten them a bit for our return trip but again when our luggage was claimed they were bent yet again. When they do not get abused by the rough handling of airline personnel they do very well and are easy to use. I gave them four stars for at least remaining locked during transport.

My husband and I travel frequently. We have used this product for years .. not sure when it came out but as soon as TSA came in I checked into these locks! I sure as heck was NOT going to leave my bags unlocked .. AND I did NOT want anyone but TSA rifling through my belongings! I am aware that a rogue TSA key can get into the hands of a thief but it is rare. This said .. the only problem we have EVER had with these locks (we also bind our suitcases with the TSA lock straps) is when we are required to have a several hour layover .. we HAVE had a break in then. You can immediately tell because the lock shows "Red Dot" .. PLUS there is no TSA note in the luggage.With these great locks .. my husband pulls the luggage off .. I check to see if all the locks show a "Green Dot" .. if they do we are on our way. If not we open the luggage .. if there is a TSA note .. we are on our way. No TSA note .. we evaluate any loss. Truthfully since we never put anything of great value anywhere but carryon we just have never had any big problem. Wish I could remember the first time I ordered from them .. but you know it was a long time ago if it was when TSA came in!
